Wind turbines used to only be available to people on the top of a mountain with lots of land and lots of money. With the advances in Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) that has all changed. VAWT’s can take advantage of lower wind speeds and more turbulent wind conditions than standard horizontal wind turbines. The days of having to go 140 feet up to get the correct conditions to harness wind energy are over.
VAWT’s are so versatile they can be placed in urban settings on the top of a building or mounted on a monopole with no need for space consuming guyed wires. They are not recommended to be placed on residential buildings but were specifically designed for commercial buildings. Residential customers can mount them on a monopole.
